Folded Paper Stars
Let's make folded paper stars, with the seasons getting darker what better way to bring our outdoor night lights indoors. You can adapt this craft to suit your colour tastes, we just decided to do some pastel cool tones...
STEP ONE
Gather your materials, we chose pale pastel tones, so lilacs and light blues, but choose what colours might suit your tastes. Different sizes of paper, scissors, hot glue gun, beads (optional), fine/rock salt (optional).
Now divide your sheets vertically into either halves or quarters, depending on the size you want your stars to be. And begin to fan fold the pieces of paper.
STEP TWO
When you have fan folded all the pieces, heat up your glue gun, and then fold the fan folded paper in half on itself again. Taking a scissors cut diagonally from the side to the corner of the end of the non-folded side. So you create a pointed end. Now repeat this process to the other pieces, using the first one as a guide, you can also use a pencil to trace this onto the other pieces if that is easier.
STEP THREE
Now using the hot glue gun glue the two folded pieces at the center of the fold together, this should now look like a full half of a star. Do the same to the other piece, and then glue all the flat pieces together. You only need 2 fan folded pieces of paper for each star.
STEP FOUR
You can also glue on beads in the center. We decided to add a "frosted" effect to our stars by painting a side in PVA glue, then either pouring fine and rock salt over, or gently pressing the stars into a tray filled with both. Then leave them to dry fully.
We decided to use our stars in our Xmas wreath for our therapy room. You can choose what you would like to do with yours.
