Snowflake Wreath

Following on from the two winter themed crafts we made, we decided to combine the hot glue snowflakes and the folded paper stars to adorn our xmas wreath to decorate our therapy room this year.

STEP ONE

You will need to have made either snowflakes or folded paper stars from the other two crafts we have on our activities page, put these pieces to the side. Then you will need a hot glue gun, coloured tissue paper, PVA glue and water mixture, cardboard, 2 different sized circular objects to trace around, scissors, masking tape, markers, glitter (optional), pipe cleaner, newspaper.

Start by creating your wreath base, trace around a larger circle onto cardboard, then cut out. Repeat this process with a smaller shape which will go inside this shape. Cut out the center. Then gather some newspaper and masking tape.

STEP TWO

Using the masking tape, attach balled up pieces of newspaper to the cardboard, make sure to fill the space. Then start ripping and tearing up the different pieces of tissue paper you would like to use, and make the "milky-like" PVA glue and water mixture together. Paint this over your newspaper and layer the different colours of tissue paper over it. Then once the whole space is covered leave to dry.

STEP THREE

When the base layer is dried, you can decorate with snowflake designs, we chose different markers and a silver pen. Also add the pipe cleaner to the "top" of the wreath, you decide which side is the "top" and "bottom".

STEP FOUR

Now spend time layering the snowflakes and stars you made previously, using a hot glue gun to attach them to each other and the wreath. Then decide where you would like to hang the wreath, we've decided to hang it on our therapy room door.
